Custom Woodworking in Santa Barbara’s East Beach
Welcome to Studio Alegiani, owned and operated by JB Alegiani - a lifelong woodworker, designer, and craftsman. Located in Santa Barbara’s East Beach neighborhood, the studio is a space where traditional woodworking and modern innovation coexist.
They say I was born with a piece of wood in my hand. Woodworking isn’t just what I do — it’s who I am. My passion lies in creating custom pieces that people love to own and use; objects that are functional, durable, and beautiful.
Every project begins with a collaboration. I work closely with clients to understand their vision, style, and practical needs. My goal is always to build something unique, finely made, and deeply personal.
Environmental responsibility is at the heart of Studio Alegiani. Long before sustainability became a buzzword, I prioritized responsibly sourced materials and practices. Respect for the environment guides both how and what I build.
With decades of experience and a deep knowledge of woodworking traditions, I bring a wide ranging design perspective to every piece. I draw on a mental library shaped by a lifelong study of fine furniture and the craft, blending historical inspiration with contemporary creativity.
My approach combines old-world craftsmanship with the best of modern technology. I use both antique hand tools and advanced digital methods, depending on what each project demands. Whether roughing out a form by hand or refining a design on the computer, I always choose the method that best serves the piece and the client.
Each creation is, above all, functional. But I aim to go further - to craft something so refined and resonant that it feels like art. The result is a piece that enhances not only the space, but expresses the values and personality of the person who lives there.
The Gallery section features a range of projects designed to meet each client’s unique needs and aesthetics. My portfolio is diverse by design; every piece is tailor-made, and no two are alike.
Take a look. And if you’re ready to explore a custom project, I’d be honored to work with you.
